This video shows the 400-foot tower formerly used by WRHN and WOBT in Rhinelander, WI, being felled (on purpose) by the tower crew in June, 2005. The top of the tower came down first, but broke off and did not collapse the rest of the tower. The last part of the video shows the remainder of the tower collapsing in a zig-zag pattern, as most guyed towers should, if they collapse. The collapse was coordinated with local authorities early in the morning to avoid traffic and potential danger to onlookers. The tower was originally manufactured by Windcharger, and was made of angle iron and bolt construction.
