@joshvn715 yeah because he relied too much on his ridiculous reflexes.

Both noobs

@joshvn715 johnson, tarver, and calzaghe gets credit for those wins, no doubt. Roy was at the end of his rope. Like with any boxer who has fought father, time played a role in those wins. Neither one of those fighters would have touch Roy in the 90's. Those fighters greatest wins in their career was against an old fighter. WHo has Tarver beat? Johnson? AND Calzaghe?

@richie Exactly with his elusiveness and power Roy neglected defense and how truly vulnerable he was in his traditional stance.
The only opponent Roy had was time, it was a matter of a time not before he lost but a matter of time until someone would batter his brains in. It was flawed and yes it worked but without a doubt- Jones style is incredibly dangerous only the best athletes even a have a chance to become champion with the style.
While a Mayweather or Hopkins are textbook.

@onlyjoetee :) Stay tight, never bob on your toes, the right cross and don't worry about the left- stay tight because his right hook/jab is the greatest ever...
-
@00jeffhardy00 Agreed about Roy. But Bernard is a grand wizard, technician, and absolutely stunning right now.
Once the spotlight faded on Roy, he didn't have the fundamentals to cut it. And at the end he can't go 3 min with the best today.

@chachiSOG Hey Roy was my favorite and thats precisely why it was so hard to watch him fall and fall again. Again in his prime he is unbeatable but the argument is why the lesser talent Bernard lasts and is world champion- while the phenomenal Roy can't last a round with the young guys today.
I love Roy Jones, the bravado, showmanship, athleticism but his fundamentals are lacking. That left was useless.
Try to fight like Roy Jones is you dare, better stick with Bernard textbook.

@gameboy010203 To put it simply Roy Jones goofy footed stance is for loading up the right as he would for the rest of his successful career. But once the cat like reflexes fade and his power is no longer feared Roy was done. Ask pretty much anyone other than dimwitted Jeff Lacy today.
No fighter has fallen as immediately and stunningly fast as Roy from legend to bum in a heartbeat because at his old age with that stance it is a headshot away from KO each time.
-
@johnosandra However Roy Jones feet, stance and low hands make it impossible to throw the left jab upstairs- he uses the left hand to push off. But stay grounded inside and you will get your chance at the perfect shot.
Still kudos to Jones athleticism and panther quickness to avoid perfect counter combos to funny style. And unlike Bernard Hopkins, or even a Shane or even most legendary fighters. Jones suffered greatly when he lost the athletic edge and power, and fell devastatingly
-
@johnosandra ? Anyways... Watch Virgil Hill and then Glen Johnson, the worst thing to do is dance, bob versus Jones- he use the left purely as honing device to gauge to how he will "land his perfect right hand". Roy sole objective is to land the devastating right and he spends the fight- slowly setting it up to slow you down and end it.
4.03 - amazing right hand and footwork

You can see the FLAWS of what was a seemingly PERFECT Roy Jones boxing style.
It is however FUNDAMENTALLY flawed because his left is weak and if you bring a tight RIGHT CROSS straight down his "pipe" use your LEFT to shield HIS right hook Reaction.. then you can GET leverage INSIDE and batter away at him
IF USING Roy Jones' stance- you have to be very wary and defensive and that's why he is wide open if extend his left. His left is weak and he never developed a fundamental defense.
