I took this video whilst doing a 10-minute joy-flight at Rottnest Island, Western Australia. The trip was basically a circuit around the outside of the island at 1000 feet (from memory). The airfield required right-hand circuits for a landing on runway 09. There was a strong crosswind that day. Runway length is 1293 metres, elevation 12 feet. Some footage was shot of the previous flight while I was waiting my turn.

  • $AUD 35 for 10 minutes (minimum 2 people).

The noise is the stall-warning buzzer. It warns that the plane is about to enter an aerodynamic stall (not the same as the engine stalling). This means that the wings will no longer provide lift - which is exactly what you want when you are about to land, so it doesn't bounce back into the air.

  • Nice!

    how much did it cost?

and what is the sqeaky noise when you touch down?
