Exactly. I work in commercials. I gave the advice to my good friend who submitted hers last time: DO NOT WASTE YOUR SWEET TIME. That even goes for pros.
I certainly agree with everyone - you need to have professional equipment. I tried my best and thought it was for amateurs. There were so many good ones, I can't believe didn't make the 15.
The worse part of this was being posted on You-Tube. I had so many rude, swearing and vulgar people e-mailing me. I finally had to block them out! Bad experience!
I'm sure there were more comments than this. I think they only print the decent ones. I have a jingle that would knock thier socks off. It's better than Kraft's, I've got the blues. but I would need expensive equipment and a sound stage or they won't even look at it as a contender.
I never did a 30 sec commerical before, so I gave it a shot. My crew and I had great time making our 2 entries. The creativty of some videos were great. Concepts that I would never have thought of.
I also did not make the top 15, so I'll try again.
Congrat to the top five winners
To Heinz
How about 3 catagories, amateurs, semi pro and pro based on equipment used, production cost ect.
I think America believed this was a contest for amateurs. Unfortunately by only selecting professionally made videos Heinz has spoiled their wonderful idea. If only professional work is going to get picked, why would I bother entering their new contest in October?
I agree with you on some plane. I honestly felt there were better videos than the stop-animation spots they picked. They were well done and had a lot of effort, however a little disturbing and I did think there were better out there. (Perhaps my own, but I'll leave that to everyone else). And did anyone else get a little caught off guard when they heard "ketchup queen?"
I completely agree. The "winners" looked a little more professional than what I think most people were expecting. I know I felt like an ass even entering.
I'm sorry. I thought there were funnier videos and more appetizing videos that may have been made by people with less money, but just as much talent. I doubt the "amateur" label would really apply to the semi-finalist. And I'm NOT even referring the ones I made. I don't think it was fair to the "little people".
Exactly.
Most people on YT are not professionals.
What's the point?
Kind of misleading after all, isn't it?
