The Robie House, which was completed in 1910, is one of the finest examples of Frank Lloyd Wright's Prairie Style homes. In fact the Robie House home was so important to Frank Lloyd Wright that he returned 47 years later to save it from being torn down. Due to his devotion, the Robie House still stands today and is considered one of the most important structures in American architecture. But what made this home so important to Frank Lloyd Wright? Why did he come here to save it? That's what Meghan Carter of http://www.AsktheDecorator.com found out on her visit to that historic building.

  • I think Wright did know what is space. He created very fantastic places, and they are the real treasures of the US and the whole world.By the way, thank you for posting this video.:)

  • Thanks for watching!

  • Robie house, along with the Martin House, are prime examples of the FLW's emphasis of designing a home in order to bring the family together. Just look at his childhood, it's what drove him to create the Prairie style home. Lastly, I think that girl is hot.

  • That's a great observation. If you visit Frank Lloyd Wright's home in Oak Park, you'll also see his emphasis on family. He created a large playroom for his children and kept the walls between their rooms from hitting the ceiling so they could throw pillows and things over them. Also, thanks for your too kind comment. I wish you the best. -Meghan

  • Oh Cooper what a glib little genius you seem to think you are.

So smug , so arrogant, so stupid.

  • What bastard would tear down a Wright house? If Frank built a dog house it would be worth more than their life.

  • Awesome building! I wish I could visit all the houses FLW designed throughout his life.

  • ive been to falling water... but now i want 2 go here

  • This is great???...how come???...ITS SCARY! THE ARCHITECT GIVING SOULS AND SPIRITS TO ITS ELEMENTS! HAHAHA!!! I AM ARCHITECT AND I KNOW!

  • she's hot

  • Some sources say that this house was created in 1908 or 1909. Which is the correct year?

  • How old is this video? I had heard that they were trying to raise funds to replicate the original FLW designed furniture which was sold off when the Robies left. The effect of the house will never be complete till the furniture is replaced. This happened with the Hollyhock House, whose interior character was dramaticly changed when they replicated the original funiture in the living room.

  • About 1958 I saw the Robie House. My faculty adviser Catherine Winckler was one owner of the Goetsch Winckler house.

I knocked at the Robie House front door than the kitchen door. A stooped lady with a large Harlequin Great Dane dog opened the door. I asked if I could see the inside of the house. She let me in. The house was very dirty with chalkboards and tables left behind.

I was as much aware of the neglect to the house as the beauty of the house.

It was a once in a lifetime experience.
