With some Irish pipes playing in the back ground and a dying battery I wanted to pound out as many front swipes as I could in the few remaining minutes. I got a new PR, 40 front swipes with double 45lb Clubbells. I've done 100+ in fewer than 10 minutes, but not without touching the clubs to the floor. Not a lot of time to rest, pace, and recover between reps, but a good set none the less. Front swipes are a SERIOUS full body strength/endurance builder and your grip gets TESTED, even more when you go HEAVY. You ask what the result is. The endurance of a war horse, the might of a berserker and the grip strength of a true bolt thrower.

  • I wish I could swipe my 45 with one arm as well as you do with two. That is truly inspiring! I do say that maybe you shouldn't work to failure like that, it could halt your progress. GREAT WORK THOUGH!!

  • Thank You! I started out with really light clubs and a serious spinal injury some 3 years ago if I can do it I know one day you will be doing it too. I have ideas surrounding working to failure. Its a mixed bag. For me, working with the double swipes as timed strength/endurance, anytime I get 1 -2 reps more is progress for me, but I document each of my training sessions so I am always moving towards a new PR. Without measured parameters, working to failure is probably not a good idea.
