Butcher's First Main Event Of The Season

Michael Butcher scored his first main event win of the season when he took
out the V8 Dirt Modified feature race at Lismore Speedway Saturday night.
Butcher took full advantage of his upfront starting spot and was never
headed throughout the race. Allan Jarvis filled the runner-up spot, while
third place was taken out by Phil McNamara.
Butcher drove a steady race throughout and always had control of the event
at the head of the field.
Meanwhile the Modified Production feature race, won by Max Clarke, produced
some rough and tumble action.
Jason Jolly was the centre of controversy after he was sent to the rear of
the field by officials for allegedly spinning another competitor.
Despite the setback, Jolly - an Australian Champion of the Modified
Production Sedan class - stormed through the field and back into contention.
He ultimately took a sensational third placing behind runner-up Jason
Campbell in one of the big drives of the night.
An equally impressive performance was turned in by Brisbane's Brock Dean in
the speedcar feature race.
Dean took the lead on the final corner as he raced to a thrilling victory.
Despite a low car and disappointing entry list, the main event produced a
thrilling dice for the lead between Darren Dillon and recently crowned
Queensland Champion Ken Stanaway.
Dillon and Stanaway went hard at it throughout the race before Dean swooped
and scored the victory in the shadow of the chequered flag.
Meanwhile, Brian Mackney took out the Street Stock feature race, while Kurt
Wilson won the junior sedan main event and Trent Dhu emerged victorious in
the four-cylinder sedan feature event.
