The map I used was gm_bigcity. ( http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=58584 ) It's a huge city and I was recording on the highest point.

@mikesohot1 To get new npc's you must download them off the internet or maybe you can find them in the toy box in-game

when i first got gmod and HL2 pack i played HL2 and wwhen i got on gmod and saw the dr. in npcs.....i spawned like....20 of him and just shot them all with a 9MM
