he was Deputy Base Commander in March of 1968.

  • Didnt the Soviets use Cam Ranh Bay?

  • Man, I'd love to do that and see first hand how all these places have changed. Phang Rang Airbase looks deserted when viewed on Google.

  • I was stationed at Cam Ranh NAVCOMSTA from 68-69. In March of this year (08) I returned for a visit. The southern part of the peninsula is occupied by the Vietnamese military and is off limits. We landed at Cam Ranh on the old USAF runways. There is a dilapidated terminal but they are in the process of building a new airport. Also, they have built a new coastal highway all the way up to Nha Trang. Also, several new developments planned along the coast.

  • You think that the Communists could be talked into filming Cam Ranh and uploading to Youtube?

  • I was at Phan Rang around this time and have wondered the same theng lately, so I checked it out on Google maps. Most of the facilities are still there although appear abandoned. Go take a look!

  • I've always wondered what the place looked like after I left. I wish someone could go back now and film the entire peninsula. I thought that the Navy side would have made a great resort area.
