I get the same feeling listening to Bill Hicks as I do listening to Frank Zappa. Both worked with music and were extremely smart and eloquent social commentators. Or satirists, whatever you prefer.
Or perhaps one could call them intellectual virtuosos but with a heart. (A blackened one).
It can't be easy to care about the world, when the world is full of people who only care about themselves. That sounds naive, but how many REALLY care? It takes guts to care. Or perseverance...
