It's "Johnny Sumner's Movie Corner" .... and there's no mistaking his take on the 1980's classic, RED DAWN. Don't miss his self produced movie clip half way through - Killer!!
In its day, RED DAWN was an exercise in jingoistic lunacy that was a hotly anticipated film, with a cast of whoever was young and upcoming at that point in the early 1980's. Lea Thompson.... Jennifer Grey.... who wouldn't want to move into the mountains which those girls even if it was to evade the brutal Russian and Cuban forces. The new remake swaps out the Ruskies for Chinese.... and then - D'oh!! - swaps out the Chinese for North Koreans (the producers realized by making the Chinese the villains - they were denying themselves the lucrative Chinese market. So they went back into post production and digitally changed all Chinese references to North Korean).
In this "it's good because it's soooo bad" gem - we see Patrick Swayze before he discovered dirty dancing and ghosts and a young Charlie Sheen before he discovered cocaine and porn stars.
As for Johnny Sumner? No one is sure whatever happened to him - thought it is rumoured he eventually gave up caffeine before going on the air.
