Someone posted a clip of Janet from this episode of Ben Casey but they neglected to post this, the opening number.

The vivacious Blair (there is no other word to describe her) was an Altoona, PA native who could do it all. Sing, dance, act. As she does in this brief clip of what was her last TV guest appearance until the 70's Smith Family with Jimmy Stewart. Check out Gavin McLeod as her manager/ fiance.

I met Janet one night back in the late 80's at a Cinema Society benefit in LA. She was just as she appeared in the movies. We argued a bit over her career which she seemed to think was not such a big deal. I disagreed. She said her proudest accomplishments were her two children. And as this clip proves, they can be proud of her. Janet made her mark and these performances will entertain for the ages.

P.S. Does anyone know where I can find a copy of SOMETHING TO SHOUT ABOUT? I'd love to see Janet's take on the Oscar nominated song, You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To.

  • @TUBEHEADGUY I met your Mom years ago in LA and she was a real Lady. The real thing. She made everything she did so much better. She is sorely missed.

  • she's my cousin

  • @tranurse That's great. I think her daughter posted here too. She was a real classy lady. She could've been a much BIGGER star but she put her family first. She said she had no regrets.

  • Just the sort of device that is still used today, in shows like House, for example. The medical drama, an old and reliable staple. But gee, I miss old Ben Casey and would love to see these showcase TV series more widely available today because, folks, as we know, there is an awful lot of crap on TV now.

  • Such a beautiful and talented woman. I've loved her in everything she did. True she could have been bigger but I hope she was aware of how much joy she brought to those who appreciated such a class act.

  • Wow! Thanks for posting.

  • The Kookiest thing about this vintage Jazz number is the ending, which is TOTALLY crazy unexpected ... especially in the context that this clip was presented

Check it out a few seconds after (2:14)

  • yeah tight!!!!!

  • Sing it Mommy !!!
