My mother made this amazing quilt.
It is 100% hand-stitched, no machines!
It is huge, huge, huge!
The pattern is called Cathedral Window.
It was shown at the 8th Annual San Francisco Quilter's Guild Show, at the Galleria, some years back.
It took her twelve years to make it, all hand sewn.
Why would she make it SO BIG?
She's gone now, so I'll never know.
No one knew she made it until I discovered it.
The piano improv is called, "Ballet School Figures."
It has a certain preciseness that reminds me of the thousands and thousands of stitches that went into this quilt.
Enjoy!
This is just a beautiful creation! Its just enormous. What a find! Hard to believe that it wasn't known that she made it!! Thank you for sharing. Maybe an older Aunt or Uncle might know or remember her working on it.

@jjgonfam Amazing,eh? Not even her sister (whom she saw all the time) knew about this. Mother died at 85, and I filled the funeral home with her oil paintings, which were also done "in secret." Everyone was (suitably) amazed. People of her generation (maybe) saw art as an unimportant sideline to "real" life. Ironically, her art was the most lasting of her legacies, and the things I (an only child) hold as most precious.
