I use John pierce bluegrass strings! They a med gauge but if the guitar is set up properly they play quite nicely.. They lend themselves to finger style picking because of the low action set up on this HD28! This guitar was set up by a fellow in Nashville named Ed Beaver. Love John Pierce strings!

  • I've been searching HD-28's on YouTube for their playability in the finger picking style, you have sold me that the HD-28 is my guitar to purchase. Great sound and you play well...Thank you.

  • @maine932 That is very nice of you to say so...I love the Martin and think you will be equally as happy. It is a very well balanced guitar with very rich lows that will only get better in time. Thank you again for watching!

    Blessings

  • Hey, I have "one" more question. When play the A chord, or capo the second fret, the 4th string when plucked just beyond the soundhole toward the bridge causes the guitar to resonate in a way that severely grates against my ears. I noticed other HD28's do the same. Is this just the distinct frequency the pick makes at this position on this guitar when it slides across the wound string? Have you ever noticed this? It's like the guitar is "cut" to bring this frequency out.

I'm having a bit of a "string" challenge with my HD28, as some medium strings, like the MSP4200 PB's I'm using right now, produce a very tubby sort of bass. I had Elixir Medium80/20's on the other day, and they were to the other extreme, but I think I prefer them.

  • nice song , nice job , man

    nice hd28

  • good job! nice tone! awesome guitar!

  • What strings are you using?

  • @tubbyteleman731 Correction i meant "YOUR singing and playing"

  • @tubbyteleman731 The awesome was for you playing and singing, but the HD28 is awesome as well. Wish I could afford one.
