No no, Hideaki Anno, officially anyway, created Evangelion out of the conclusions he came to due to his depression, meaning he was already out of it.
This making has no connection to how the original turned out, he would have re-made it years earlier if that were the case.

Because the creator was in a depression when he made it and the studio ran out of money before he could culminate the anime, which is why there is a show ending and a EoE ending (funded by the anime dvd sales),
Now he's just cleaning it up, its pretty interesting how a lack of depression and oodles of cash can really flesh eva out. I liked this movie.

I have just found some good news!
There will be used a new technology of Sony named SBMV "Super Bit Mapping" which will add a smooth graphic for high definition. This technology will be used for the first time in Evangelion.
