Compared to the pro racing from my 1992 video, the local talent was stacked at this event.
In the qualifier, Sean Naslund grabbed the holeshot and smoked everyone. Clicking off consistent fast lap times. There was more than one qualifier, but I only had video from Sean's race.
In the main event, former Canadian national champ, Alan Dyck, jumps out to the early lead with Scot Steffy close behind. Jay Whipple got a bad start and started moving through the pack and our protagonist of the story, Sean Naslund was jockeying for position between 4th and 8th place.
There is a moment some where around the third or fourth lap where Sean goes high on a berm only to find that the rider in front of him, Mark Nitsch, had hit a hay bale and was stuck in the track. This allowed two riders, Jason Norton and Jay Chenier to slip by on the inside. I couldn't believe how much faster that inside line was in combonation with Sean having to slow down to get around Nitsch.
Shortly thereafter, Norton crashed on the triple and the positions were pretty much locked up to the finish line. Sean put up a fight to eventually finish 6th.
Allright Scott, Who's bike was I riding? I noticed I have 125 plates on my bike. Was I riding your bike or could I just not afford numbers for my bike? I don't remember much about this race. I remember being sick and tired of being behind people that couldn't do the triple after the table top. I certainly didn't look as aggressive or comfortable in the main as I did in the qualifier. Too bad we didn't have this computer technology then. I sure would have liked seeing myself ride.

I think that was your bike. Not sure about the plates. Maybe you borrowed a bike from Maryotts just to this race? I didn't remember anything about this video until I saw myself sitting in the stands. Then I remembered I couldn't get off from work early enough that day to do the races. Besides, I was still scared to race arenacross up there after I crashed everyone out of the pro class race several times and got my goggles punched out during the 1992 season.
