The founder of Palm, Jeff Hawkins, solves the mystery of Artificial Intelligence and presents his theory at the RSA Conference 2008. He gives a brief tutorial on the neocortex and then explains how the brain stores memory and then describes how to use that knowledge to create artificial intelligence. This lecture is insightful and his theory will revolutionize computer science.

  • Pretty soon we'll be able to take a camara with us that will take pictures... and then it will tell us the name of the object that what we're pointing out. For example, you might be hiking and then look at a new bush you've never seen b4. You point your camara at it then you point at it and say, "What is that?" The camara would use the latest techniques... possibly download information from satillites... then it would tell you what you're looking at! That would be sool cool. It will happen!

  • Imagine what technology will be like in 1000 years its almost impossible who would of thought in the last 100 years we would be able to watch a video on artificial intelligence and comment about it to the rest of the world lol.

  • @galanoth17 I think the video answered your question. A computer can not tell the difference between a cat and a dog.

  • @johan28, you say "it will happen" but that's already here in the form of augmented reality. We're closer than you think!

  • @Jammed9000 My camera's face detection system detects my ca't arse. No kidding, ho 'bout that?

  • @johan28 Its called Google Goggles

  • It's easy for a computer to think and learn ... but getting it to laugh is difficult ;-)

  • this guy is like the darwin of the brain

  • why can't i hit 'like' twice?

  • Why? Why can't we do the experiments on humans that we did on macaque monkeys? I've seen plenty of humans have their brains analyzed inside MRIs without harm. Is it because they TORTURE and MURDER the monkeys?

    Could THAT be the reason?

If that's so, then they had no business doing the experiments in the first place.

The monkeys don't owe any humans their lives.

  • Well, my camera can somehow detect faces. ?

  • It synthesizes, analyzes, and generates abstractions. The simplest thought, like the concept of the number one, has an elaborate logical underpinning.
