The Amazonian Haramba Queros are a Harakmbut-speaking community of 53 individuals living in the Kcosñipata valley of the department of Cusco, Peru. This project was initiated by the Queros Native Community, who approached ACA due to the organizations long-standing presence in the region. The Queros sought to work with ACA to create the worlds first indigenous conservation concession.

The Queros conservation concession is officially known as the Haramba Queros Wachiperi Ecological Reserve, a title chosen by the Queros themselves, and was officially established in July 2008. The concession directly protects 17,238 acres and controls access to some 300,000 acres of pristine eastern Andean slope buffering the 3.7 million acres of Manu National Park. Although indigenous communities are known worldwide for their environmental consciousness and earth-friendly land tenure systems, the Queros are the first community to formalize such practices with a national government. This conservation concession provides a buffer against the impacts of climate change, secures the Queros water resources, and helps the community maintain its cultural traditions.
