The Villa-Lobos String Quartet was established by three brazilians and one american that have chosen top music institutions in the United States, such as the Azusa Pacific University, University of Southern California and Yale University; to improve their repertoire and technique. The increasing desire to develop the brazilian exceptional and rich classical repertoire brought these musicians together to represent some of the greatest names in Brazilian Classical Music.
The name of the group was chosen after the remarkable Brazilian composer Villa-Lobos. The uniqueness of his compositions bring together the top quality of musical knowledge acquired during his time in Paris and the endless devotion to represent Brazilian musical roots. Brazil, a nation of many faces, represents the joint of many cultures and their artistic and musical traditions, that is what makes Brazilian music unique. The Villa-Lobos String Quartet represents the Azusa Pacific University where the integrants of the quartet develop intense musical activities.
