November is Native American Heritage Month, and last year, Obama announced, the day after Thanksgiving, as Native American Heritage Day. The American Indian Movement's Wanbli Tate explains a different side to the history of Thanksgiving, one of destruction.

I'm so fucking tired of this bullshit. Native Americans have as many rights and privledges as anyone else in this Country. Even more. Get over it and get with the program. If the Natives are so Earth loving and sacred why does the reservations look like garbage dumps? Keep using that historic guilt and sympathy to milk the system. If they are tired of being treated like stereotypes quit acting like one!!

@selenadelos I could not have said it better myself. Rome destroyed Europe! With Rome came the deaths of thousands of Celts and other European tribes, with Rome came christianity causing even more deaths and with christianity came it´s brother, islam, which is causing just as much hatred, death and suppression. I am part Norse/Saxon and Cumry Roma...fortunally my peoples were considered too barbaric by the Romans to even conquer. Heal Europe and then we can help heal Turtle Island (America)!

@Tomorer it wasn't any different in the US, don't kid yourself. the only difference in Canada was Native Americans were the only ones that were treated badly, in the US essentially everyone who wasn't a WASP was at one point in the countries history treated terribly.

my heart goes out to them its messed up how the Native Americans were treated and are treated to this day. l remember watching an abc special with Diane Sawyer about the Children of the Plains a documentary based on Native Americans heritage etc. And it brought tears to my eyes and a sense of anger because its not right, their lands, religion etc was stolen smh
