Retracting flaps will also make the plane loosing speed faster due to wheelbrakes will be more efficient.. maybe not so big difference when landing jumbos but when landing small planes it does make sense

@ckirkman09 airplanes always lands with head wind, do you know how lift is created???, also airplanes cant "raise" again because of the flaps, flaps are retracted because they are no longerin use at that angle, some pilots leave'em in take off position (5-10°) but on airplanes with a wingso lowas the 737 there's a high chance of the falps being hit by a ground service equipment if they are´nt retracted

At the gate the engines will be shut down and thus hydraulic pressure will be gone. Flaps must be up on a parked airplane. They are retracted just after leaving the runway.
