This is an excerpt from The Andy Kaufman Special which was aired on ABC in 1979. Andy, as his "Foreign Man" persona, tells a story about the three people who were carrying the biggest canon in the world to Spain. One of my favorite Andy bits.

  • What pile drives me to the floor, broken, beyond repair, and unable to get up is the fact that they pushed the cannon all of the way to the top of the mountain and were unable to fire it--because THEY HAD NO CANNONBALL!!

  • God, he was so good

  • thumbs up if you came here looking for Andy Kaufman material and have never seen Man on the moon

  • just the way he was telling th joke is great

  • Like Steve Martin, this is "so bad it's good" humor. If you don't understand that then you wouldn't find this funny.

  • @ClutchFan1971 Where?

  • @3ISAMAGICNUMBR You don't understand it, and that's ok. But he doesn't have almost a million views on ceveral clips here on youtube just because people think it's awesome to look at a dead guy.

He's not a joke teller (wich he's pointing out in this clip by making his foreign character tell a joke and totally miss the timing of when to hit the punchline), so it takes a lot more to understand his humour, than a random standup guy.

  • @raphe111 I saw the movie and was curious to see some of his comedy that wasn't displayed on the film. It just isn't funny. Think about it, if he was still alive, where would he be? Probably doing comedy central roasts because that's the bottom of the barrel as far as I am concerned. No one would even talk about his comedy.

  • @footlongtallywacker That's because he wasn't a comedian. He was a performer.
