Close Air Support

US Soldiers call in close air support in Mosul, Iraq. They use an infrared laser designator to "paint" their target to point it out to the helicopters overhead that then fire on the target with both M134 minigun and Hydra rocket fire.

The audio/video may seem to not be synchronized but it actually is. Light travels faster than sound mind you. It takes a while for the sound of the guns/rockets to reach the camera after you see the tracers and explosions in the distance.

your description isn't correct. i've seen this video before and the sound is synchronized because the helicopters are above the man filming, not over the town - just look at the attack angle.

Sound actually travels about 350 meters per second. There are 1600 meters in a mile. I counted 6 or 7 seconds from when you first see the tracer rounds until you hear the sound of the firing. So, doing the math they are close to or just over 1 1/2 miles from the target. I assume the support came from a UH-60 since you can hear helos and that fire is not consistent w/ any other US helo (except maybe an OH-6, but they aren't that loud). BTW, I'm not trying to be a smartass, just informative.

@rmnldr - This is a video of an MH-60L DAP Blackhawk.

It's basically a UH-60 that packs as much firepower as an AH-64. An MH-60L DAP (or AH-60L) of the 160th SOAR is armed with two M134 Miniguns, FFAR rockets, AGM-114 Hellfire missiles or Hydra 70s, two M261 FFAR 19-rocket pods, and an M230 30mm cannon (same as the AH-64).

Yes, a single Blackhawk can deal out this much firepower at once. Also, the UH-1 has been phased out and the few that are in service are stateside for the NG and Ft Rucker.

Ieds take out humvees they also damage the treads on tanks I'll admit the ak has shitty accuracy but the missiles can harm a humvee what you don't know is the tech behind their weapons the rpg uses shape charge tech which can easily punch a hole through any humvee the ak uses about a 7 caliber round which is fairly dangerous when they hit (if they can hit) but the ieds is what causes the most damage they are mostly made from artillery shells and can devastate humvees and immobili

Damn every video a watch usa soldiers need air support. They must be trained buy some sucky leader, all they are going against is some rag heads with ak's and maybe a few missles ied's or what ever.. usa soldiers got armer tanks humv's they are some pussies if u ask me, taliban got shit just guns haha
