  • When I watched this episode first, I thought that it was one of the most interesting of the old star trek series. I understand that most had difficulty understanding it since I had difficulty as well. However, I found the concept WAY MORE ORIGINAL than most of the other episodes. I too was affected by thinking about what it would be like to fight off a mad man for eternity. I guess I'm a part of a small minority that didn't mind how confusing it was.

  • I just watched this ep for the first time and I actually applauded when it ended - BEST STAR TREK EPISODE EVER!!! Even better than City on the Edge of Forever. This totally blew me away...two men from opposite universes trapped in the corridor of eternity in a perpetual battle: "Image having a mad man at your throat for eternity, Spock- imagine it!" The price of our continued existence is Lazarus's eternal nightare!BRILLIANT! Gerd Oswald brings Outer Limits to Trek. Bravo!

  • You will believe a man can fall...

  • @netgeak

The original script was less confusing and didn't call for so many scenes of Lazarus falling off cliffs or battling his twin. It called for a romance between him and Lt Masters similar to the Space Seed where he would enlist her to steal the crystals. But, when they chose a black actress to play Charlene, they were forced to change the script at the last minute. While it would have been nice to have an IR romance in Trek, I'm glad Charlene wasn't made into another weak crewmember.

  • For me, this is one of the most memorable episodes. It plays out like a Greek tragedy; the gods playing with a creature for their own enjoyment. I've never forgotten the last lines when Kirk says "But what of Lazarus? What of Lazarus?"

  • One of the worst episodes - but everything seems to have gone wrong during the actual filming rather than during the scriptwriting. Another director could have produced something that made more sense.

  • This is the worst episode of Star Trek. Don't bother watching it or trying to figure it out. I understand the concept and themes, but they just don't come together to form an understandable episode.

  • Yeah, Lazarus! Haha. Actually, I like the whole idea of how they find this guy who claims there's an evil maniac out there and when Kirk gets sent to the antimatter Universe, it's a complete twist, the guy they met was the evil twin and the man he claims is evil is actual a gentle character who explains how going to this other Universe caused the trouble. But how awful he has to be trapped forever in limbo with this evil twin at his throat, to prevent the end of all things!

  • its very biblical !

  • No and no. But thanks for asking. Maybe try thinking of it as a metaphor. If that doesn't help, then just agree to disagree! Works for me! :) Peace.

  • Are you crazy? This is the worst episode of Star Trek by far. I mean there is no contest. And to say this episode is better than The City on the Edge of Forever just blows my mind. I bet your second favorite episode is The Omega Glory.
