Sándor Gönyey (Ébner) began making ethnographic documentary films in 1927. His films, which are of inestimable value, were mostly made at his own expense. Often they stand as the only known record of a given custom or dance.

A tudományos célú néprajzi filmkészítést Gönyey (Ébner) Sándor kezdte el 1927-ben. Többnyire saját költségére készítette filmjeit, melyek felbecsülhetetlen értékűek. Sokszor egyedüli dokumentumot jelentenek egy-egy szokásról, táncról.
