This is me using a Shuto to break a river rock on the steel campfire grate while camping. First I break it and then I break the bigger half. (sorry about the bad angle on the second break) Take note of Rusty the Dog in the background on the first break.

Note: Comments like "My Granny could do that," are quite useless. If you wish to create a dialogue about rock breaking feel free to post a video response, preferably of your granny busting some rocks.

  • those rocks are easy to break, you can find all over creek beds, it's like dried up sedimentary mud

  • I promise to you that this is igneous, not sedimentary, rock. This was filmed near the Oregon coast, where huge basalt flows sculpted the landscape. So, yes, it is a river rock, but it is basalt, which is quite hard.
