A clip from The Five Rings of Mental Toughness Training

Training your mind is as essential as training your body...

These five sessions lead by USA Gymnastics Sport Psychology Consultant Alison Arnold Ph.D. will help you become the gymnast you were meant to be. The mind is the most important muscle you will ever use. Each section helps you train your mind with drills, visualizations, and motivational tips from some of the leading gymnasts and coaches across the USA. Get ready to take your gymnastics to the next level. Train your mind and change your life.

Ring 1: AWARENESS
Awareness is key if you want to change your thinking. If you are not aware of your mind, it's easy to lose it! This segment will teach you how to be aware of what you are thinking at all times and how thought effects your body

Ring 2: VISION
What we put energy into grows. Having vision means making the decision to be the best gymnast and person you can be. Who are you as a gymnast? How do you stand, walk, take correction? What skills do you want to accomplish Ring Number Two helps you create the vision of the athlete you want to be every day in the gym.

Ring 3: DISCIPLINE
Discipline is key if you want to be a high level athlete. Disciplining your mind means training it to stay on course. This segment will teach you how to use mental choreography cue words to keep your mind tight so your body can be on automatic pilot.

Ring 4: PERSEVERANCE
The difference between good athletes and great athletes is perseverance. It's easy to have mental toughness on a good day, but can you pull your mind back from fear, frustration, and intense pressure? This segment will teach you how to turn around negative spirals and use them as fuel.

Ring 5: BELIEF
Belief is the ring that holds the other four rings together. We know that "what you think is what you do". Whatever you believe about yourself definitely becomes your reality. Ring Number Five teaches you how to create belief in yourself. It gives you the tools you need to walk, train, and talk, like a champion.

EACH SEGMENT CONTAINS MENTAL TOUGHNESS TIPS FROM EXPERTS SUCH AS:
Kim Zmeskal: 1991 World Champion
Morgan White: 2000 Olympic Team Member
Samantha Sheehan: 2002 World Medalist
Mary Lee Tracy: 1996-2000 Olympic Team Coach
Mack Newton: 2 Time World Champion Tae Kwon Do
And more!
