  • any dickel fans know If there's a global kentuky bourbon that is like Dickel?

No usa shore ship to australia.

A bourbon with the buttery oily corn. But without any of that big oak and tannic challenge (ECraig 12, bookers, so on). What is this puppy winkle? would 15 be to oaky for me. maybe 10y. I love the chew in dickel + outstanding balance + works on my less challenging palate with dry and oak. Woodford reserve people indicated it will be to oaky for me.

  • @CliveGains80s Hmmm, tough question. Few that I'd say are like Dickel and available globally. Woodford honestly has some of that butterscotch and corny quality. From a mass availability standpoint it's a good place to start, but certainly it's not like Dickel. Let me ponder this for a moment.

  • @CliveGains80s Are you able to get BLack Maple Hill by chance? That is one that has an overly corny quality to it.

  • Finally got to try this, great stuff. This and Buffalo Trace will be my two near $20 whiskeys.

  • @EmperorCesar You can't go wrong with it. It's good stuff.

  • @MathewsWire Good video response. Couple of clarifications. NAS (no age statement) bourbon or TN whiskey is more common than having an age. When whiskey is in the kind of price range as Dickel 12, age statements are most times non existent; Jim Beam, Evan Williams 1783, Jack, Buffalo Trace, etc. Also I would greatly like to see this above 90 proof also, but again, you have to look at the price. It's a lot more expensive to bottle at higher proof. Considering the target mkt, 90 is in line.

  • They've recently introduced this at the LCBO in Canada, but they've priced it at $39. Our dollar is about the same as the American dollar currently. Jack Daniels is between $27 and $29 a bottle, comparitively.

At $39, is this still worth purchasing?

  • @CliveGains80s Woodford is actually pretty oily, where as bookers and basil, etc are more oaky/spicy. If you can actually find ANY of the van winkles, grab one, as long as their not at obscene prices. Dickel is a solid whiskey, there are many others than resemble its mild profile. Drink your bourbon (and Tennessee)!

  • Damn, you really smelled all that shit in the whiskey? lol, I thought you were just gonna keep goin on 'n on about the smells..."I think I smelled some cinnamon and eggs, a little salmon in there..."

  • Excellent whiskey! Vastly superior to JD in my opinion.

  • I ran out of my George Dickel #12 750ml....so I bought the 1.75 ml brother :). That's how much I enjoy their product. Also, if you have the opportunity to try their Barrel Select product, it's equally yummy.
