I see everyone knows of Doug's passing. It's a sad day for those of us who welcomed his music at a time when the industry was churning out crap, (much like today)! Perhaps, and sad to say, now Doug will get the true recognition he deserves. RIP Doug!

@Proteus311 Um, wrong Bill Ward. There was another Bill Ward who is a very sought after session drummer. He is NOT the guy from Black Sabbath. Do your homework!!!!

Cannot stop listening to this! Flawless

Billy Ward of Black Sabbath fame on drums.

My Sharona was the #1 Billboard song for 1979; my grad year. Announced that @ our 10 year reunion, no one believed me! Back in "those days" I had the copy of the charts-no YT or Google to back me up. Hell YEAH it killed disco-nice and fast. Wish they played more from the albums on air today...

I really miss this band and the state of what's "popular" nowadays...

@larryvgs Spot on. Amen brother!

@romeokid69 Fair enough except check your head all the same. I've seen it all the time. A band has a huge hit and the hardcore fans over compensate, celebrating other songs in the catalogue more. Sometimes that works. But its not working in this case when you're talking about a nomineed for greatest rock n' roll song of all-time.

@FavreianVengeance First off, did I use any offensive to you? NO!!!! So back the fuck off Junior!!! I am not saying that My Sharona is not a great song. BUT, the songs on this album, as a whole, are better. The thing about The Knack is that more than 10 years after their popularity peaked, they did not change their style. In your opinion, My Sharona is a better song.....so be it. I don't agree. And I dont need to pretend to be hardcore. I am a Knack fan through and through.

@romeokid69 You can't be that fucking stupid. Your a nut if you're calling all the songs on any album better than My Sharona. You're like one of those fans that wants to pretend he's hardcore cool by elevating the songs nobody cares about over the songs that the casual fans hear on the radio. Cream of the crop rises to the top dude and My Sharona is a classic. How about you go diddle yourself now.
Is he really singing "I'm a flamer" at 1:50?!?

@crapple009 Yes. Unfortunately, they have lyrics all over the Internet for this song which are way off. Because of this, I've decided to add the lyrics in the summary (from the "Serious Fun" CD) so you know what exactly Doug IS singing.

Bruce Gary.

For those who don't know, Bruce Gary, the Knack's original drummer, also passed away way too early in 2006 at the age of 55 from Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Gary was one of the best drummers ever, and after the Knack initially broke up, he was in great demand, going on to perform with some of the premier musicians of his era including Bob Dylan, Sheryl Crow and Rod Stewart. He and Fieger had a falling out, but they reunited to record Badfinger's "No Matter What" in 1997.

Maybe now "Get The Knack" will finally get the masterpiece of rock-pop recognition it has deserved all these years. It was THE album that put the final nail in the coffin of disco, and it sounds as fresh today as it did the day it came out. Those who only know "My Sharona" do not know what they missed, and every release from the Knack had something special like this song. Hopefully this tragedy will motivate some to revisit their work. RIP Doug.
