@Browncoat1138 you are actually quite right. and i'm not saying that Fleet Foxes suck or anything. i just hate the fact that 'fans' often think that pop sensibility is a reason to like a band. you know what i mean? you should only listen to music you like and be open to all types of music, but you shouldn't listen to a band as a trend, just because their on the radio, or just because they don't swear.

@QuietEthic I believe there are some, like our misinformed friend, WrigglingGibbon, who might call that trolling... But I totally agree about the pop sensibility bullshit. Some bands, like The Shins, and The Decemberists, have it, but they're so different from everything else that they almost need it to connect remotely to the mainstream. The Shins have some really weird-ass songs, and Colin Meloy, though fucking brilliant, uses words that would make an English major blush.

but i still hate the whole concept of "pop sensibility", i - personally - think that bands shouldn't conform just to get on the radio. who cares about getting on the radio, as long as at least one of their songs is on the radio so people know about them, they don't have to write every song so well mannered. why not swear a little? everybody swears...

anyway, the point is that i overreacted on purpose; to deliver a point effectively.
