Actually it shows how much you know about their attempt. The cable is a safety guide wire that moves freely in the up direction, but would lock in case the car started to slide back. So the car is going on its own means up that ski jump. The tires are studded, but there is no other way to do it. This was a test of the AWD system, not the tires. Audi did numerous attempts and was able to achieve it.
