I can understand that. But in most parts of the US (especially big cities), guys get big trucks just to try and look cool and never use them. If you use a truck like a truck should, then get something good with a long bed and power. But whats the point of getting a 10 mpg V8 truck if you don't haul anything? And use it just to drive around your 3 year old. Might as well get a Tacoma or D21 Hardbody or Ranger, at least you will save a ton of money.

Toyota Tacoma/Hilux are the benchmark for trucks everywhere. Great gas mileage (for a truck), lots of ground clearance, decent off-road capabilities, a bit low payload and tow capacity, but the insane reliability and dependability figures make up for it - only more reliable truck I can think of is a Nissan D21 Hardbody (I own one, my mechanic had one that lasted 350,000 miles, my friend had one that lasted 20 years with high mileage)
