CHILDHOOD: Heidern was never a normal child, even though he behaved like one. Cheerful and warm-hearted, he used to play with sharp objects such as scissors, knives, and nails when nobody was watching, and playing with normal toys while with other children. At the age of 5, he read almost every book by Oscar Wilde. At the age of 6, he started to see things, such as dead people and other phenomena.
While other children used to chew bubblegum, he used to disassemble Gillete razors by chewing them. He never cut himself.
After some psychoanalysis, it was found he had magical sensibility, but the doctor said to his parents that it was just caffeine in his diet.
Even being skilled in handling sharp objects (His first scar was at age 22), he was never the kind of person who walked armed on street, and was always bullied at school.
At 13, he realized how to work with his inner magic, and his first act was to shut dead people the hell up who tried to talk with him during all these years. After this, he started to harness his magic to his own benefit. He faced one of his bullies, Ryuji Yamazaki, and gave him a powerful elbow strike embedded with light, afterwards named "Shining Elbow". However, this wasn't enough to put him down, so Yamazaki pulled out a knife and tried to stab Heidern.
Heidern then had a brainstorm: He always has been good with remotely sharp objects, and had some magic enhancing abilities that could make some RPG players jealous, so he pulled out his pencil sharpener, held it with his fingers and made a swing, with some kind of power on the blade. With this, he fenced the stab and Yamazaki retreated. He made his very first Moon Slash.
As soon as Yamazaki retreated, many colleagues came upon him and paid relatively high amounts of money (for a child) to Heidern to lay some razors on the local bullies.
Heidern started work as a mercenary from that day on. Since he was - and still is - very good at concealing stuff and stalking, he was never caught in the act with a weapon, sharp object or peeking through Mai Shiranui's window while she was taking a shower.
STORY: Eight years prior to The King of Fighters '94 tournament, Heidern was just promoted to his current rank for his exceptional proficiency in martial arts and strategy. The event took place at a top-secret base in Brazil and his wife and daughter were present for the ceremony. Rugal, who caught wind of Heidern's high marks, stormed the base when he was away and killed fifty secret service officers on his arrival. When Heidern hurried back from his duties, Rugal deprived him his right eye and deemed him unfit to be a part of his collection. Instead, he murdered Heidern's wife and child. Disgraced and alone, he developed his own fighting style and mercenary unit, the Ikari Warriors. He pursued Rugal to avenge his loved ones' deaths.
Sometime before the King of Fighters tournaments, he found Leona, as the last survivor of a destroyed village, during a mission deep in an unknown jungle. The girl was amnesic and Heidern adopted her to care for her. He originally forbid her to partake in any training yet became lenient due to her inclinations on the manner. His refusal to give her a formal rank is his way of protecting her from some of the dangers on the battlefield.
Beginning in The King of Fighters '96, he assigns Leona to take his place in the tournaments while he issues orders from the sidelines. He continues to play a major part in one of the series's story arcs, the NESTS Saga, since the Ikari Warriors are trying to destroy the NESTS group. He continues his job with the group, Those From the Past. When Leona experiences the Riot of the Blood after the 2003 tournament, he decides to pull her out of the following one and stay by her side while she recuperates.
PERSONALITY: Very calm and silent, Heidern's personality was built because of the trauma of losing his eye and his family to Rugal. Although he hides his emotions through a veil of professionalism, he cares deeply for all of his subordinates and especially for Leona. HEIDERN is a "cold-blooded killing machine"
POWERS: * Slashing Hands - Heidern's hands can cut and pierce as if they were knives. * Cutting Aura - Aside of his slashing hands power, Heidern can create a cutting aura around his arms AND ALSO USING THE BLOOD. * Cutting Projectile - Heidern can send a cutting/piercing projecttile flying with his hands. * Absorb Life - By piercing his hands in his enemy's body, Heidern can absorb his life force and fuel his own.
