Over 75 environmental and housing justice protestors picketed Bank of America on Tuesday, 10/7/08, then blockaded the nearby Citibank for over an hour - both banks in Harvard Square in Cambridge, MA USA - in protest of their role in the global financial crisis. They also highlighted both banks' complicity in worsening global warming by investing in coal energy. In addition, they held the banks accountable for destroying the Appalachian environment by strip-mining coal. The Cambridge Police arrested 4 protestors who chained themselves to Citibank's front doors. The participants included members of City Life/Vida Urbana, Rainforest Action Network, and Rising Tide Boston. Directed by Jason Pramas of Open Media Boston, http://www.openmediaboston.org/node/359.

  • not sure which of the two speakers you're referring to, cithinkingman, but you're wrong about the "leftist agenda" - it's only by moving politics more to the left that any of the economic and political injustices plaguing our society will change for the better ... and by left, we're talking real left - not Democrats ... this political shift is happening elsewhere in the world and needs to start happening here ...at least, that is, if we want America to be a good and great place ...

  • i'm one of the people who chained themselves to citi and got arrested, and on behalf of all four of us, thank you for this beautiful video and positive comments. we won't stop until the banks stop funding the destruction of appalachia, the climate, the economy, and the working class who keep this country running!

  • Pull out your money from BoA? Are you kidding? That would ruin our entire system. Yea great solution.

  • Citibank got the government to buy 230 billion of mortgages that were losing them money.

  • Microsoft was broken up for being a Monopoly and making too much money These banks make more money then Microsoft yet are allowed to keep on jacking up the economy. The banks need to be broken up

Its sad when you see France taking up in the streets violently for less, and Americans do nothing. You think the banks or government will one day wake up and say oh no we are so sorry for taking all of Americas money. Since you are such peaceful protesters we will give it all back and change our ways HA
