nothing beats the dolls, johnny thunders & the heartbreakers, dead boys etc.

The london scene was formed by Malcolm McLaren who had just been managing the dolls which broke up.. He stole their concept, he stole Sylvain's guitar, and gave them to some douchebags which he called the sex pistols.. Steve Jones learned to play guitar by watching clips of the Dolls playing, and ripping off Johnny's guitar style and stage appearance. He have even admitted it sevreal times in the later years..

I love the loyalty to the Dolls and JT! Goes to show most Pistols fans were fareweather fakes! I went to high school with a lot of them. Non conformists? Yeah in their punk unies! Johnny never wore that shit. London owes a lot to NY!

@markwasthere It's just a joke. Steve Jones admitted he stole all his moves from Johnny and Sid was in a band with him for a time.

The Sex Pistols and the Damnned were intimidated by the Heartbreakers. They thought they were gang bangers fron NY.
And the London Punks were taking LSD.
While the New York Punks were slamming junk.

Meh. I've got to agree with all the people who complain about Lydon singing like he was still in Public Image - that style doesn't fit Sex Pistols material, and people only accept it because it's friggin John Lyden.
His voice wouldn't be the same as in the 70's, but if he'd just keep to the original style their newer performances would drastically improved.
this was not a 'tribute' to the Dolls, it was a put down

I agree with you and in the true spirit of rock Johnny Thunders wrote a reply song called London Boys taking the piss of Johnny Rotten and the Sex Pistols. I love them all, Thunders, the Dolls and the Pistols. Thunders actually commented once that the Pistols were a great rock band as they all were.
