just checked out Westo super mares newly rebuilt pier has what todays people need so why cannot new west pier be like wise old ruins must go first just rubbish now

National Disgrace for Govt to just ignore Brighton west pier over the years Blackpool has all three of its piers . Technology exists to drive new piles and build bigger and better and much stronger structure with todays tecnology facilities onboard will bring in much needed cashfor the city to maintain existing pier

nice video.. was wondering what the music was called..?

I'm so fascinated by the West Pier and just the city itself. It makes me sad to see it burned down. It's kinda of eery to look at.

Oh man..this is so sad..what beautiful images..I stood by here today imagining all those ppl from Victorian times laughing ,walking together escaping the hardship of the big cities...just a little time away from it all.Lovely film..thankyou

a beautiful piece of archiecture ruined and has been allowed to be ruined ,who ever allowed this should be made to be forced to repair it back to its former glory ,or be named and shamed , it seems easy to destroy something than cherish it , you dont need to destroy something , to put modern in its way , the two can live happily side by side,
where was the national trust on this building

Thanks! It's called "West Pier", although originally it was called "Kyrie" as it was written for a choir. I lengthened it and rearranged it for the video.

Has anybody thought of atleast trying to rebuild it back to its former state??!!

Yep - I think it finally fell through, mainly on grounds of cost. The owners of the other pier keep objecting, though why is beyond me. The West Pier wouldn't compete with it if it were rebuilt as a theatre etc.
The plan before I left Brighton was to build an observation tower there instead, a bit like the ones at Glasgow or southampton (or is it Portsmouth?). But I'm now in Scotland so maybe someone else knows what's happening now.
