NOTE: THIS VIDEO IS OUTDATED AND IS TO BE REVISITED & REVISED WHEN TIME ALLOWS. HOWEVER, BY POPULAR DEMAND, I WILL LEAVE THE ORIGINAL VERSION ONLINE. WHEN THE NEW VERSION IS UPLOADED, THIS VERSION WILL REMAIN UNAFFECTED. THANK YOU FOR VIEWING.

This is obviously my most popular video to date, telling the story of favored overnight passenger train running between Chicago and New Orleans. Since then it's logged over 300,000 views as the past of American railroading and travel are relived by the viewers. For most, it's a train of not so long ago that reminds us of how things have changed since then. I call it nostalgia.

At some point, I plan to do an updated version of this very much loved video as you can see the techniques you see here are out of date compared to where I am now.

Original description:
This is a video dedicated to the Illinois Central's most famous daytime train. It mostly contains footage of MSTS, but there is a clip or two of TRS2006 and an excursion train me & dad followed to Cookeville back in October of 2005. Enjoy!

  • @IowaHarley65 Don't know where "America" went; I just know it went. They saw it was too good to be true and we were all enjoying the closest thing to freedom we could possibly get on this side of death... And they led everyone like sheep to the slaughter; all that's left, are a few of us that aren't sleepwalking zombies. Nobody knows what's right or wrong anymore & if you say something's wrong; you're accused of being biased or a terrorist, take your pick.

  • @raser1994 Very well, and how are you? We love our trains here or what's left of them. Grew up with them and even in the 1960's were very much needed and depended upon. I am up here in Alaska now, and they are a vital part of moving goods between villages. But I do miss the old days, I doubt anymore a couple of school kids would be allowed to cut through a train yard to get to school. I understand that trains are very much of Europe's history, and are vital as well, good for you, keep riding!

  • @IowaHarley65 Amen brother! I think it's time we start holding the government accountable for themselves! I hate that they forced our citzens to go to war & then threw them under the bus when they got back. Let them fight the wars they start & let them pay for their own deficit as well!! At least that would be something worth fighting for; even losing our lives for! That's what the men who started our nation did; they weren't forcing themselves on other countries in the beginning.

  • Never take this off!

  • go to Arlo Guthries website and let him decide if your video is good! This is the best! Let the man decide!!

  • @WC3POchannel10A Yes thanks, I'm fine.

  • @IowaHarley65 yep you got it only it is not in english, if you want ot get in on the U tube crap, speak english.

  • @MsTruthordie So true, "It just went...." along with compassion, peace, and loving one's brother. And if we say we're Proud Americans, it almost has an agenda these days. I long for those bygone days of the 60's and 70's... or at least its climate and spirit. Even the 80's were special times.

  • @HauptmannWittman: Yep, that was Steve Goodman!! And yes, the rest as they say, is History! LOL

  • @raser1994: Guten Morgen Deutschland! Wie geht es dir?

  • @pjgumby: My elementary school was near a train yard as well... and the tracks ran right behind the school... a block away. (Waterloo, IA - Chicago Central Line and Union Pacific, I believe.) Love the smells and sounds... miss them dearly to this day!

  • The second sound track of the rumbling train is brilliant. Love your perspective of this great song and you added value to it.
