More than 100 miles east of Calgary, in the middle of the Canadian Prairie, you will find British Army Training Unit Suffield, BATUS, the Armys premier armoured and mechanised training establishment.
For 24 days at a time soldiers live and train on the prairie. Initially working with live ammunition, it is during phase two of the exercise that BATUS truly comes into its own.
