Scottish schoolgirl, Holly Batchelor has been named as the world's brightest young physicist at an international science festival.
The 18 year old pupil at Mary Erskine School in Edinburgh, made her own cosmic ray detector and won the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair's (ISEF) First Award for physics and astronomy.
I loved it, especially the cosmic ray doorway!

There are two related but quite separate things going on. The cloud chamber, and the cosmic ray detector. The two pillars are part of the latter. The use of concident detection is quite a step upwards from the diffusion cloud chamber, and this young lady should rightly be congratulated.

I made one a year ago except instead I used americium 210 as my radiation source, a fish tank for the box and used acetone cooled by dry ice instead of direct contact to minimize variables. I'm 15 now and moving on to bigger things, can't believe that brat got so much recognition for such a silly reproduction of an age old piece of equipment!

5/5! Awesome! Very nice demonstration indeed! Ionizing Radiation is an awesome field to study, if you know what your doing, of course! She does! I love the Atomic World too! Too much, if you want to know the truth! I love it! Thanks for this video!

What's with standing near the light emiting towers under it? I dont' see any clouds when she did that. XD And I know no physics just a few things on biology.
