  • What please do you mean by saying the 85mm is faster than the 50mm?

  • @Kidsonss they are both the same aperture but the 85 does focus a little faster than the 50 f1.8

  • What lens would I need if I wanted a final focal length of 50mm or a 85mm AFTER the 1.6 crop was included?...

  • @MrHarryHooligan For 50mm you would need a 30 or 35mm lens to give the 50mm field of view. For 85 the 50mm is as close as you will get.

  • Thanks for the review m8, ur awesome, this is exactly what I was looking for. Too bad the crop factor is scary! I'm now aware of the decision before buing one. Do you have any idea about the differences in the MFD (Minimal Focal Distance) ??? Between these two ? Wud really appreciate yer help.

  • @EpicsodeOne Thank you, the 85 closest focesing distance is 2.8 ft not that close, the 85 1.2 will focus closer but its crazy expensive. The 50mm will focus at 1.47 ft so closer than the 85. For the 85mm i need to be about 9ft away to get a head and shoulder shot. Rick

  • I have the 1.6x crop sensor so the 85mm was no good in small spaces I found. However it is one of the sharpest non L lenses and if you can get some space, it gives nice Bokeh and seperates the subject nicely from the background. Also I would choose the 50mm f/1.4 over the f/1.8 at three times the price but having a better motor and build quality.

  • thank you! - very helpful!

  • @rickjbradbury Thanks again m8.

  • @rickjbradbury Thx m8, now I will NOT go buy it! Keep up the good work.
