Born again biker? No, more like a biker born yesterday.

This is what happens when an expert car driver and ex driving instructor attempts to take control of a motorcycle for the very first time.

Lesson one: How not to brake. Damn heavy machine!

For those curious, it was a Kawasaki Vulcan 1500cc. I know, not the most ideal learner machine, but I wouldn't have it any other way ;)

  • Just a question.. did you use your back brake there and not your from? Remember most the brakings done with the front and not the rear.

  • It was the front. I hadn't quite become used to the back brake at that point as I used the control I was familiar with on pedal bicycles.

    Besides, I had pretty much BOTH my feet scrabbling for the ground at that moment!

    I haven't ridden a motorcycle since and never in the UK, but I hope to take my CBT here next summer as I have the biking bug now.

  • @pedrocoady you should always use both brakes apply about 60% to the back and 40% to the front
