Wow this isn't gay it's MMA a guy said that same thing a my freinds house and I said ok and i sai lets spar and i got him in mount and got him and then I said gay right and walked off

Nice to see that somebody actually credits the traditional jujitsu for once.
The gracies did a great thing for the mma world and I respect them. But all the moves that are utilized in BJJ are nothing new. All of them date back to the Judo days.
BJJ is more of a princible/system to me.

LOL. Got to give it to old "Spitsping" though, he's not really superior in any one category and yet he is successful. He is successful because he:
A.) is not retarded. and
B.) he works hard.
You can laugh, but those two things'll do a lot for you.

@adoniscomplex - I think Bisping probably means BJJ in this video but technically and originally, this is all from the 'Ne Waza' part of Judo which was still called Ju Jitsu by some people when it was exported to many countries where it became popular e.g. Brazil, France, USSR.

Re: Martial arts origins/sequence of heritage you quote are debatable. Separate ancient arts may have formed independent of one another: Books worth reading are 'Mind over Muscle' by Jigaro Kano (Judo/JJ) and 'The Sword Polishers record' (Kung Fu History) by Adam Hsu.
Re: This video. I believe Bisping had success in Japanese JJ as a youth, predating his involvement in MMA contests. So in fact, Japanese JJ could have been what he meant as he stated.
