  • while all the non-techies run around with their memory modules up their noses, i'll be fine tuning the GPU and CPU to really make my machine roar

  • You have lag because you have an intel core 2 duo. its a dual core cpu. For fraps i suggest you get a X3 or X4 cpu

  • It makes me laugh when people think they need more than 4GB of RAM for games :) the only reason you would need more is for HD video encoding. That is all.

  • 30 fps from quad core 3.6 ghz

    xfx radeon hd 6850

    8 gb of ram

    250 gb of hdd

    and ICEnhancer :D

  • @Cqub3 The only processor that depends on RAM is AMD APUs. Since it's a CPU and a GPU on a same die, the GPU uses the systems RAM and there's been tests on AMDs APU showing that the frequency of the RAM affects FPS. RAM running at frequencies 1066 and 1333 will have no effect on computers with dedicated GPU.

I'm admitting that I was wrong but not completely. :)

  • @Cqub3 Considering that your system is x64 then of course 3GBs is quite low. Since RAM has been its lowest cost/per GB 8GB is recommended. I currently have 9GB and use 2 VMs sometimes with no problems.

  • @undeadkillers Tough, that depends on the game, lately i upgraded from 3gb to 6gb, i didn't really expect any performance difference at all, but it definitely gave me 10 to 15 fps more!, the game was Battlefield 3 by the way

  • @Cqub3 true... true...

  • @xxDiZZyShotZxx RAM will hardly even effect performance. We're talking like 0.0000001.
