Scenes from 1979. Monica is in labor. Lesley and Gail are treating her. Alan and Rick are trying to get to mansion from GH in an ambulance. Monica is delirious and confesses that the baby is Rick's. Lesley delivers AJ. Alan and Rick arrive at mansion. Rick doesn't realize Lesley knows Monica's secret. Source quality is poor.

I'd totally forgotten about the "lost the will to live" stuff! I remember thinking-Lesley had already delivered the baby-and now this? It was horrible.

@imachildofthe80s8089 It true he was convicted of tax evasion and had go to jail in real life and could only work only 2 hrs on GH and he lost all his money in real life and he was married like 4 or 3 times and have a lot of kids and have to pay a lot of child support stupid man dont mess with IRS

@gotch09 Yep. Leslie is Laura's mother, which is why I found it so ironic that Laura had so many characteristics of Leslie's old arch-enemy. Sigh. I sure miss those days. Of course, I really liked the original Rick -- what was his name, I forget?

@RealLoisLane I agree totally about Monica, although I do like Leslie Carlson. And I always thought Laura was more like Monica than Leslie.

This right here is why I hated AJs death. Still do, as a matter of fact. So many people went through so much to make sure he got here safe, and they just go and throw his character away. Hmmm. The GH rule seems to be only Spencer connections are allowed to come back from the dead (Brenda stands alone of course) then surely AJ counts now. Luke's married to his aunt, so why not have him come back from the dead to kill Sonny, who he blames for . . . you get the idea.

@EMMAFAN01 are you an emma samms fan? or is it a different emma. BTW, when 70's GH closed, it made Nielsen's No.1 daytime drama, the first time ever in the shows history. And it would knock AMC off and send it into a close second or may have been tied(the show was going strong still as it was the year of Erica's birth control deceit, Cliff and nina' s storybook romance and Palmer's meddling and Brooke's sad abortion. Monty's reign on the show made good results after 2 years with the pro.

@EMMAFAN01 yeah because Lesley was a great friend to Monica in her time of need through her problems with Alan then stepped aside so she could marry her man for the sake of the child that would turn into a fuck-up years later and crash and burn. I bet your ass Monica didn't even think she was dying...she just wanted to blurt it out to Lesley during the birth caused it seemed a pivotal time coz she still wanted Rick. But there was still Alan to deal with!!!

@RealLoisLane Rick was a jerk off. I really wished Alan would've gashed him in the face with that chandelier! Plus Rick always gave me the creeps...I found out why years later...Chris Robinson(his portrayer) was in big time trouble with the law for tax evasion!

I've always liked Rick, but his concern for Monica was way over the top... Leslie must have really loved the dude. I think I would have given Howard a test run... LOL
