Perhaps you're right and a 10 year old could have made a better job of editing this film? I thought the 14 year olds that actually cut this film togther did a really good job. This was an educational project and their contribution went towards a GCSE. So they, unlike you, have at least one qualification...

@CraigLawson, clearly you were looking at only certain amount of kids and only certain amount of the area. I have lived in Hemsworth since birth and whilst there are not too many things to do in the area, I love this town greatly. Regretfully, I have to say that I agree with some of the comments on here which say that it has only gone downhill since the council started putting the underclass people into local housing.

tbh a good film but some ov these comments are a bit harsh iv lived in hemsworth my whole life and never really had a problem with it also the kids u used arnt the best to be making this presenation i kn ow a few of em n they r on drugs, i love hemswe

there is loads of jobz, plenty of factories in south kirkby and south elmsall but people are too lazy to travel five minutes on the bus. at the end of the day the mines shut years ago so why dont people get off they're arses and make a proper living instead of whinging about what they havent got.

Yeh cos theres thousands of jobs round here... why you think it got like this int first place? Cos theres no fucking work, which equals no money which equals lower standard of living
Idiot

I was one of the lucky ones..my parents and I moved to Blackpool in 1998!
Did you film this in a council estate by any chance? It's full of chavs!
Thanks for making my mins up...I will never bring my children to Hemsworth to visit family.
I lived on Holly Bank by the way opposite Hemsworth High School Field...have those houses gone now?

I sad to see Hemsworth as it is today, i lived at no 18 Ashfield road in 1965 when it was first built, we came from Scotland only to return a year later because of we were homesick but during that spell i remember how nice it was, and the people who were very friendly and tried to make us welcome,i remember the picture house and the outdoor market i hope the town makes a recovery in the next few years and with my best wishes
Maybe the films an accurate picture of one part of Hemsworth but thats as far as it goes.
What about Lowfields, Woodlands, little Hemsworth and all the other nice parts that make up Hemsworth?

I think people are focusing on the negatives a little too much. Most of the film took place in the West End, which, from what I understand, has now gone. There are some really nice, picturesque areas around Hemsworth, but I still think the town needs more facilities for young people...

Its not just cos of the mining situation its the fact they moved loads of smakheads and scum into Hemsworth and its gone down since, Kids ant got owt 2 do, Young girls are gettin pregnant for council houses, theres no jobs and its a depressing place.
I wish it was a better nicer place but unfortunatly its built a reputation as a shit tip with no hope.
Apart from that its a great honest insight!
Good work!

Thanks for that. I hope that the kids will get some additional facilities as a result of the regeneration program.
