  • Its interesting that despite having an avid interest in the Cuban Missile Crisis, I never stopped to consider the Soviet perspective. The panic that swept across the country appears to have now been a gross overreaction. In spite of this, I don't buy his argument of missiles in Cuba holding little significance in the balance of power. Those missiles gave them a exponentially better opportunity to destroy key targets (cont'd.)

  • This is one of my favorite videos analyzing the cause of CMC and American paranoia. The analysis by Khrushchev is so comprehensive and thoughtful because it takes into acct geopolitics of a nation. Really helpful video when uds CMC! (:

  • I can't believe I never thought about how the Soviets viewed the crisis. I thought that the panic in America would be mirrored by the Soviets, but it makes sense that they had lived through so many crises before, it was just another one, not the apocalypse. He was right when he said that every crisis for the Americans is so shocking. I sometimes forget that America is a comparatively young country, but this perspective put me in my place on that one. Thank you for this!
