This is me on my home built electric motorcycle I ride almost every day. It will run around 70mph and will travel 28 miles or so before needing to be plugged in for an hour or so. One really cool part is it has lots of power and little or no sound, so you just hear the wind.

  • 28 miles is pretty good if you only go to work and go back home with this

  • It's still running :)

  • how do you get 485 amps out of 4 12v batteries?? sorry im new to this. and im looking at some other batters that are labled 3.3v with 2.2ah so i have another source telling me with 6 together it packs 69amp hour. i just need a little guidence. thanks

  • That is (4) 85 amp hour batteries i'm using.

I suspect the reserve power (shorted drain)of them may be around 485 amp.

  • not bad. have you thought about getting a newer motor for it? a new perm pmg-132 goes for about $895, but has 12-15hp. and how did you set up your cooling, does it run off the batteries when the bike is moving?

  • At one time I put a Etek in it but I didn't like the noise and power band. For cooling I drilled several holes in the end cases of the current motor and it stays cooled without and forced air. I have been thinking about getting a advanced DC motor for it probably a 7".

  • NO TO GAS

  • if you got a powerful electric motor, it will sound better than ANY engine!!! it will LITERALLY sound like a jet engine! now that's cool! listen to the tesla roadster taking off, or the kilacycle.

this motorcycle probably isn't the best conversion out there either, i've seen bikes with more range on youtube. and he probably used lead acid batteries

  • say no to gas, say yes to a well to wheel efficiency of max 18% and huge waiting time between fillups. yes it's cheap, but cheap=/=efficient. that electricity has to be made, send over miles of powerline, get into a battery (worthless efficiency there), get out of the battery and into the motor.

if you want to go green, buy a diesel and run it on used frying grease. 2nd and 3rd gen biofuels are the solution! that and public and human powered transport.

  • there cool but they seem dangoures cause u cant here them especially for mx

  • thats pretty awesome :)

  • Gets him to and from work. I'm sure that was the idea. Plus, building things yourself is always fun. New battery configuration, he might get up to 70 miles out of it.

  • i love gadjets to man.i have a suzuki gsx 1000cc.thats a hell of a gadjet.but i understand what you mean.i would buy an electric bike if it had a nice sound,if i can control my gear and if it look nice.i'm sick and tired of paying for gaz and making the arab world dubi rich.

    take care.

  • The thing is, both him and you have different goals: he wanted to stop burning gas; and you like motorbikes...

    I love bikes and "gadgets"...

    c ya

  • why would i buy this then? i do more then 28 miles to go to work or to do anything on a bike. i love motorcycles, i like the sound of it and the speed of it. if i want to save on gaz, i'll buy a scooter.
