of course it does. That is because the air pressure inside the compartment is smiliar to that outside.
Once the ink flows out. The air pressure inside the compartment lowers...
the air pressure at the point where ink flows keeps it steady. Air wants to get in... but can't. Thus keeping the ink steady.
Or at least that is the logic of suction.
There is a video on refilling the cartriges hp 78, where the chick does not cork the air entrance. i don't get how that works.
