Stephen Filarsky shows how to paint a miniature oil painting double portrait of cows using the techniques of painting dark shapes, then midtones, then the lights. painting negative spaces, then refining the shapes and edges. Rather than speed up the video, I edited out the time spent away from the camera, mixing colors, cleaning brushes and just looking at what to paint next. The painting moves along and you can actually see the brush strokes and what I am painting

    I use a rather standard palette, titanium white, cad yellow light, cad yellow med, yellow ochre, cad red light, alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue, cerulean blue, sap green and burnt sienna
