  • Netwriter, in case you weren't aware of it, this video is on the favorites on "why won't god heal amputees" religious discussion site. It is my second favorite video, in close second to "three keys to heaven", a parody that I love showing my devout friends and watching them take the bait while I sit back and smile, knowing that it's sarcasm. Google the amputee site, go to "on youtube", then click see all 99 videos and you'll find yours.

  • Thanks for the info morgan.

  • I shudder to compare the outstanding minds of the fathers of America with the current fool that Jesus saved from the bottle.

  • Amen!!! gph61

  • When some prominent figure like Adams makes two completely conflicting and contradictory statements regarding religion, some contingent of atheists will completely ignore the pro-religion statement and smugly point to the contrary statement as the only one worthy of merit. Interesting.........

  • I almost shudder at the thought of alluding to the most fatal example of the abuses of grief which the history of mankind has preserved -- the Cross. Consider what calamities that engine of grief has produced! - John Adams

  • No presidential candidate today would dare to quote Adams, Franklin, or Jefferson.

  • Faith may not be able to move moutains, but you should see what it can do to a couple of skyscrapers.

What do you call a person that relies only on faith to be healed?.........The dearly departed.

  • Ah glad I stumbled across this video, I think you saved the best quote for last with mark twain. Good stuff.

  • "Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion....are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments."-Charles Carroll.

Ben Franklin my have been a great mind but if you see something as a barrier, in his case the christian religion, then that means you are thinking to much upon it. think of religion as a guideline to morals not science.

  • Jefferson owned 200 slaves. I think that says it all.

  • As a christian I find always very interesting to try to perpective things from a atheistic point of view;I must say that, this quotes make lot of sense and I can understand why people don't believe that, maibe there's a God...I don't blame them;I have doubts myself but,I found it requires more faith from me not to believe, than believe...maibe I'm just ignorant but,I cannot understand the all process of cause effect without put it down to,a first cause that,in itself is the genesis of all...

  • My favorite: Isaac Asimov

  • @7jack7 While we cannot prove that death is truly the end, you cannot prove it isn't. Seeing that we are at an impasse, and that beautiful feelings are not solid grounds for any argument, we would be better served by removing superstition, getting over petty cultural differences, and taking efforts to make life better for everyone.

  • Interesting but... If you ever decide to make another, please remember that most people cannot speed-read, if you read the quotes slowly before going on to the next it would help. I found that I had to have my finger on the pause (space) bar most of the time in order that I could read the quotes and then give a short thought to what was meant. Otherwise most interesting. So, some people involved with the American constitution were atheists eh? No president of recent times admitted that.

  • Death is a mystery that no living person can penetrate.

It's all well and good to say that you don't believe in the existence of a god and that you believe that death is the end of any particular life, but to conclude that the concept that life does not end at death is "dangerous nonsense" is to shut one's eyes and close one's mind to unlimited possibilities.

The concept of life after death is in no way limited to any religion's conception of it.
